May Infinite Wisdom Cure us of Self-Confidence
"Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins." -- Psalm 19:13
Pastor Charles Spurgeon once wrote, "The whitest robes, unless their purity be preserved by divine grace, will be defiled by the blackest spots." Experienced Christian, boast not in your life, for you will certainly trip if you look away from He who is able to keep you from falling. You whose love is fervent, whose faith is constant, whose hopes are bright, say not in your heart, "We shall never sin," but rather cry, "Lord, lead us not into temptation." Pastor Spurgeon also said, "There is enough tinder in the heart of the best of men to light a fire that will burn to the lowest hell, unless God shall quench the sparks as they fall."

The Madness of Self-Confidence
Lord, keep us back
Lest' we shall rush straightway
Over the perilous edge of sin
Into the murkiness of death and decay.
Lord, you are able to keep us from falling
So let us not look away from Thee
For You have set upon us both providence and grace
And in your love we abide most humbly.
